Two new main and interesting design spaces were finished this month.
The first one is the Azzedine Alaia Boutique in Paris, designed by Marc Newson
The second one is the old project of floating house by the Bouroullec Brothers.
Azzedine Alaia has always been a collector of contemporary design, particularly of Marc Newson production, and he sold 4 months ago at Philips & De pury some elements coming from the coast restaurant (auction result here ).
Azzedine did transform this collection in collaboration with Marc Newson, with the order to design his new showroom in Paris.
The result is very simple, terrific, with the use of marble and leather for cushions and frames. A big light rosace in the center of the showrooms lights up this peaceful space.

Since 2 years, Marc Newson is working more and more for interior design (Jewerly showroom in Tokyo, Hotel Puerta America in Madrid, Airbus)

---------------------
Initiated in 2002 by a public commission and finished in 2006 for the "Centre d'Art de Chatou", the floating house is now released, with the collaboraton of two archiects (D. Dauersin and J_M Finot).

The thin budget allowed to the house explains the simplicty of decoration: an aluminum skin enveloped by a wooden trellis delimits the long alcove. In a global surface of 110m2 (with 23m2 of terraces), life and work are articulated around different spaces, neither defined nor definitive. Large flower pots placed on the terraces are the starting points of creepers that should invade the walls and roof. In the next future, plants will recover the whole, thus integrating the building within the landscape of the shores and providing further intimacy to the residents.
Notice that the Floating House was conceived as a reproducible object, as it can be designed again with various lengths and rooms surfaces.
